The Herefordshire and Worcestershire[ H&W] DFT programme is based out of the Charles Hastings Education Centre (CHEC) at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital site which is located a 5 minute drive from J6 or J7 of the M5 , [an easy 30 minute drive from Birmingham] , or via good public transport links . CHEC is a beautiful, modern, well equipped centre with dedicated free parking, a variety of teaching spaces, IT and clinical suites, library, museum, and restaurant. The dental practices associated with this scheme come from the surrounding small urban and rural areas across the scenic counties of H&W and the majority of Educational Supervisorss are very experienced trainers who have formed a close knit group that support each other and the H&W Foundation Dentists [ FDs] . Most of the study days are held for the 13 H&W FDs at CHEC or, for the hands-on skills sessions, at the new state of the art, purpose-built Birmingham University Dental Hospital,[ BDH] . Some study days are run jointly with other West Midland or Regional DFT schemes, which allows for the attraction of some of the very best speakers in the country. Marie-Claire Parsons the TPD has worked in General Dental Practice for over 30 years, has been an ES and involved with HEE for almost 20 years as a Dental Tutor for CPD/DWD and Professional Support Lead for colleagues who require mentoring . More recently she has started teaching undergraduates on Clinical Practice at BDH.
