Allied Health Professionals

Allied Health Professionals are a diverse group of statutory-registered healthcare practitioners who deliver high quality care to patients across a wide range of care pathways and in a variety of settings. Allied Health Professionals (with the exception of some paramedics) are graduates with specific and scientific training. They are highly skilled practitioners who are registered with the Health Professions Council

Allied Health Professionals make a unique contribution to people’s lives whether they are in hospital, in their homes or the community. They work across the NHS, Social Care, Independent and Voluntary sectors adding life to years - not just years to life.

The Professional Advisor for Allied Health Professionals is Sally Judges – and is the lead for this workforce group.

Sally is involved in the commissioning and quality monitoring of Allied Health Professional programmes. The complexity of the arrangements requires a region wide strategic view as well as detailed knowledge of the professional groups. Sally is also involved in decisions regarding future Allied Health Professional workforce building on local and national workforce intelligence. Sally facilitates and encourages the sharing of innovation and best practice including the use of new and/or extended roles. Sally works in this role for three days per week.
