Training Programmes

Welcome to the East of England Postgraduate training programme in Clinical Radiology. Our gold medal winning programme offers a full range of clinical settings from busy acute hospital with a rich case mix to cutting edge academic and tertiary referral teaching centres in Norwich and Cambridge.  The School of Radiology aims to ensure that the program is tailored to provide a wide range of educational experience and support for each trainee taking into account the logistical and geographic aspects of training. The School offers comprehensive delivery of the radiology curriculum and provides individual support in exams. Each trainee will be located at a base hospital with honorary contracts at other departments to ensure flexibility in gaining a wide range of clinical experience in different environments. Especially in Year 1 and Year 3 there will be cross rotations between the teaching and district general hospitals for all trainees as an essential preparation for the Fellowship exams. There is also a full support program to ensure that each trainee develops skills in radiology research and innovation, and generic training to prepare them for their future role as a consultant.

The three programmes are:

The Essex, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Programme

The Essex, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire (EBH) Training Scheme is primarily based in DGH’s and is a sub deanery of the larger East of England deanery. We cover a wide area across the Essex, Bedford and Hertfordshire counties.

The programme benefits from the intense and personalised training in an acute Trust with a small number of trainees, and integration with a major Teaching hospital, and in the proximity of base hospitals to London.

For more information, to arrange visits and talk with existing trainees contact the Programme Director: Dr Sheena McLaggan. Visit the EBH Radiology website. Applicants will be asked to preference their Programme when they attend for interview.

Information on the curriculum can be obtained from the Royal College of Radiologists

If you need further information not available through the Programme Web sites or the Programme Directors then please contact the Head of the Postgraduate School of Clinical Radiology Dr Mark Alexander.
